School Census 2008

The School Census is a statutory collection by the Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF) and all schools are required to provide this return using their Management Information System (MIS) e.g. SIMSnet, Facility CMIS etc.

The Autumn School Census is a reduced census and, generally, requires less data than the Spring return.

What data is being collected?

Data is being collected for the following pupil/students and you should therefore ensure that the relevant data is kept up to date for pupil/students falling into these categories:

  • All pupil/students on the register on the census day.

  • Any additional pupil/students subject to any type of exclusion in the Spring Term 2007/2008.

  • Any additional pupil/students who attended the school in the previous term.

New requirements:

  • Primaries are required to provide Exclusions information.

  • Secondaries are to report on Learning Aims that took place between Autumn 2007 and Summer 2008 census returns.
