E-safety page for Kingston parents

E-safety workshops

The Local Authority is providing 16 e-safety workshops for mothers, fathers and carers of children who attend Kingston schools. The workshops are sponsored by Contact Point. These workshops are provided through 4 local cluster areas:

  • Kingston Town (Tudor, Canbury, Grove and Norbiton)
  • Malden and Coombe (Coombe Hill, Coombe Vale, Beverley, St James and Old Malden)
  • Surbiton (St Mark's, Berrylands, Surbiton Hill and Alexandra)
  • South of the Borough (Tolworth, Hook and Chessington)

Content of workshops

The workshops last about two hours and are suitable for the parents of children aged between 7 and 16. They are provided by a charity, Lucy Faithfull Foundation.

These free workshops aims to explore safer internet use for you and your children. It will help you to:-

  • Know the potential pitfalls of the internet
  • Think about what action you need to take
  • Understand cyberbullying and how to combat it

The workshop will include a presentation, some group discussion and 2 short DVDs about cyber-bullying and the dangers of chatting to strangers online.

Past workshops presented by Lucy Faithfull Foundation have been well-received by parents:-

“This has really opened my eyes”

“The cyberbullying DVD was extremely powerful and useful”

“ A brilliant evening, very well organised with a lot of thought and effort put into it”

“I have become more knowledgeable about chat-rooms and will educate my children before they start accessing these sites.”
