ABOUT THE KPSSA

The KPSSA has been serving the children of Kingston for over 25 years.

Kingston Primary Schools Sports Association (KPSSA) runs all the primary school sporting competitions and events in the Royal Borough of Kingston-upon-Thames, Greater London, UK. It is run and organised by teachers, staff and parents on a voluntary basis and is financed principally through sponsorship and donations with a small annual fee payable by each school.

Its objectives are:

Towards the end of the 90s the association was desperately short of funds and struggling to survive when Kevin Hogston asked Dave Wright to assist with fundraising by taking the KPSSA online with an email campaign and the creation of a website. The project was such a success that the official launch of the website some months later was performed by the mayor of Kingston, attended by MP Dr Jenny Tonge and local celebrities, notably sporting commentator John Inverdale, who gave enthusiastic support to this innovative approach to school sports funding. The many Kingston dignitaries and business leaders in attendance, combined with the ensuing publicity generated, ensured enough sponsorship to enable the KPSSA to expand its programme of events and move forward with confidence. Primary schools in Kingston now know that their particular sporting needs are not restricted by lack of finance, equipment or resource.

The website is very popular with pupils, teachers and parents providing general information, fixtures, results, photos, match reports and competitions.

At the annual AGM the sporting events for the forthcoming year are organised, new sporting activities discussed and the accounts reviewed. All teachers, staff, parents and anyone else involved in primary school sport in the Royal Borough of Kingston are encouraged to attend.
