A problem that exists with all websites, although due to the nature of content can affect KPSSA visitors more severely,
is that of page caching. Some networks, notably Kingsnet, download popular pages once, and then serve them to clients
from their own cache. This is more efficient, in that pages are served more quickly and there is less work for the network,
but it does mean that content may be held for some time without being renewed. Your ISP (particularly AOL) and even
your computer may also be serving pages from their own memory. This is out of the control of the website and the ONLY
way to be sure of seeing the most up-to-date version is to force a FULL refresh/reload of
the page, typically by holding down the 'Ctrl' key at the same time as either clicking the refresh/reload button or pressing the 'R' or F5 key.
Clicking the refresh/reload button or pushing F5 on its own may only result in a partial reload. If successful, you should notice a brief flicker of the page.
You are advised to always refresh pages that may have changed recently i.e. photograph and results pages shortly after the event, where content may have been added or mistakes rectified. This applies to all websites you view, with the exception of those serving 'streaming' content.
Sponsorship
We welcome sponsorship by business or other organisations. Many of the competitions
can only be run thanks to the generosity of local companies, who enjoy both the
satisfaction of benefitting Kingston schoolchildren and the goodwill and profile-raising
generated. If you would like to sponsor a competition or event, contact us for
more details. We will help you maximise ROI, which some sponsors have found suprisingly
good in local terms. We also respect anonymous donations. At present, our finances do not warrant us
becoming a registered charity.
Contact
The easiest way to contact the KPSSA is to use the form here.
We can also be contacted c/o Latchmere Junior via the Borough school courier system.
Individuals can also be reached by email (see Diary page)
although please allow reasonable time for receipt. More urgent communication should
be by telephone direct to the relevant school.
Privacy
We do not at present use cookies or keep any trackable record of visitors, other
than the usual server log files and search word monitor. Likenesses are identified
with permission only as members of a school or team. All material on this site
is copyright KPSSA © 2003 and may not be reproduced without permission, especially
photographs, where any use by others is strictly forbidden.
Policy on the use of photographs
We encourage the use of photographs and wherever possible will record KPSSA events ourselves, or use those submitted by others. We have carefully considered the use of photographs on this website and generally conform to current DfES guidelines. These allow the use of photographs but discourage the publication of any details of depicted children, other than their school or team name. Photographs of school sport can be a valuable record of a child's achievement, help enhance their self-esteem and are often a source of pleasure and pride to their family and friends. There is no evidence to support reports of abuse. In taking part in KPSSA events, permission for such photographs to appear on the website or in the press is assumed. Teachers, parents or carers should be aware of this, but may inform us if they do not agree, either at the event or prior to the event through the contact page on this site and their views will be respected. We also comply with the Data Protection Act Good Practice Guide (Adobe Acrobat required to view).
Copies of photographs
Although photographs taken for this site are not by necessity of high definition, they have usually been reduced further in size for display. If you would like the best copy of any photograph featured, rather than copying off the page, please ask for the original to be emailed to you stating clearly which photograph you require. It may also be possible to source pictures from previous years. This is a free service.
