A group photograph of ARP Wardens who were attached to the post on the Portsmouth Road.

Q. Why are the ARP men older than the women?

A. Men between the ages of 18 and 41 were called up into the forces unless they were in a reserved occupation. This meant they were skilled in a job and did not have to join the armed services.
