This is the Home Guard who were men too old to be enlisted for the regular services. The medical corps would have been made up of doctors and nurses.

Q. Look at the men in this photograph. How old do you think they were?

A. They are mostly over 41, as most men between the age of 18 and 41 were called up into the regular services
