British Forces: Flying Officer Cyril Barton, VC

Cyril Barton was 22 and from New Malden. On the night of 30 March 1944, he piloted a Halifax Bomber to a raid on Nuremburg. His plane was attacked and damaged on the way. He completed the mission and returned to Yorkshire, but the plane crashed on landing. His crew survived, but he died.
